BOW MAR

ABOUT BOW MAR, CO.

Incorporated in 1958, the Town of Bow Mar has a population of about 900 in an area of just under one square mile. The Town lies in Arapahoe and Jefferson Counties, 12 miles from Downtown Denver. Bow Mar is composed of about 300 single-family homes on acre lots, many of which were modeled after Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie-style architecture. You can trace its origins as a neighborhood to Lloyd King – who owned King Soopers. He and a Denver realtor bought the 575-acre subdivision that would become Bow Mar with the dream that it would be a luxury neighborhood that would also govern itself.

The name Bowmar came by combining the monikers of two nearby lakes, Bowles Lake and Marston Lake. Those were named after Joseph Bowles and John Marston, two farmers who put this area straddling the Arapahoe and Jefferson County borders on the map. Bow Mar is one of the few places in the Denver Metro area where you'll experience a quiet country setting with open space and expansive views plus a friendly and fun family-oriented community. It also features a private recreational lake with a beach, yacht club, tennis courts & ice skating in the winter.
